Lizzie is 9 months old! I can't believe it! Here are a few pictures that I took of her playing today.
At her check up this week, she was 28 1/4 inches long (75th percentile) and 18 lbs, 11.5 oz. (40th percentile). Dr. Gilbert looked at her measurements and said, "So I'm thinking she is more into moving than eating!" She is exactly right! Lizzie is all over the place! She is even crawling up the stairs (this is my least favorite of her new tricks!)

Her motor skills are impressive, but her eating skills are NOT! She will not eat ANYTHING off a spoon - except maybe a few spoonfuls of GA's full-of-sugar yogurt! She will eat pick-up foods, but there really aren't that many convenient, nutritious things that a barely 9-month-old baby with only a few teeth can pick up and eat easily. So, I have had to turn into one of those really "earthy" moms who actually makes her own baby food. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about feeding my kids healthy, organic food as much as possible. But Earth's Best Organic in the jar was just fine for Grace Ann and sooo much easier! Also, the recent warnings about kids getting exposed to too many chemicals from canned foods has made me nervous about using them often. I'm just not that into cooking, but I've had to learn how to make healthy things in a consistency that Lizzie will eat.
So as of now, here is the small list of things she will eat:
Blueberries (cut in lots of tiny pieces)
Butternut Squash (I have to bake it in the oven and scoop it out so she can pick it up)
Sweet Potatoes (bake or steam so she can pick up)
Sweet Peas (I try to get fresh ones at Costco and steam them but we sometimes use canned organic ones)
Carrots (steamed and mashed with a fork)
Apples (steamed and mashed with fork)
Puffs, Yogurt Melts, Baby Mum Mum and other toddler snacks

This is her reaction when I told her "No, No" because she was getting close to the cords. This face also describes how I feel about her eating habits :-)
Unfortunately, she won't eat the easy things to mash like Bananas or Avocado. I'm having to bathe her after almost every meal because she gets so much food in that head full of hair! (Okay, thanks for letting me vent about the amount of time I am spending preparing food for, feeding, and cleaning her! UGH!)
Other than her eating habits, she is a complete JOY! She loves to play patty-cake and starts clapping as soon as we sing the words. She waves goodbye and hello. She constantly says "DaDa", occasionally says "RahRah", rarely says "MaMa", and has said "Sis" a few times. She is a great sleeper and usually takes two good naps a day. Her teeth have been driving her crazy, but she still happy unless she is really tired. She has three visible teeth - two on bottom and one "fang" on top!

Not the best picture, but the only one I got of her clapping

This is the view I usually have. This girl in ON THE MOVE and tries to escape diaper changes, bottles, etc
